The Song Download Battle
![]()
Apparently, ever since the beginning of the new year the UK Singles chart has changed the way in which they figure their ratings. Official song downloads are now being counted toward their totals. As a result of this, there are currently two interesting fan-related attempts to get songs into the top ten. The first song attempt seems to have originated in the forums over that the fabulous Outpost Gallifrey. They have not yet managed to get Love Don’t Roam from the Doctor Who Soundtrack on the chart. Don’t give up hope folks! The other download campaign was started by Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, who urged his listeners to download Billie Piper’s hit Honey to the Bee. (For those of you who don’t already know, back in the late 1990s, before Billie Piper was on Doctor Who, she was a British pop star. Seriously. She broke the top ten four times.) This attempt is already working. The song is currently sitting at 17 on the chart. It still needs to climb seven spaces to reach the top ten, but who knows what another week could bring? Personally, I would love for both to reach the top ten along with Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars which currently resides at number twenty-eight. Snow Patrol is a popular source of music for Torchwood…and I really like the band.
