Review: Doctor Who: The Original Television Soundtrack
Well, I finally got my copy of the new Doctor Who soundtrack in the mail. Since then I have been listening to it pretty much continuously. To help you figure out where each piece of music came from, Murray Gold kindly includes notes in the booklet for each piece of music. I would just like to take a moment here to thank Mr. Gold for writing music for my favorite show. For me, music adds so much more a moment in an episode, and this music in particular has the power to move me. You may have guessed by now that I adore this soundtrack. It contains so much of the music that I love from seasons one and two, and even a song from the upcoming Christmas special. The only thing that I would change is “Song for Ten.” I would have prefered to have the episode version instead of this full version sung by someone else. Even with that one small disappointment, listening to this CD makes me want to go back and watch all of the episodes again, especially the upcoming “Doomsday.” The Madame de Pompadour track makes me cry a bit every time. “The Doctor’s Theme” is currently my favorite track, but there are so many others in contention. I hope that they do another soundtrack soon, as I expect that the new season will bring with it more “must-have” music. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this soundtrack. My “Collector’s Limited Edition” even came with a small pin with the cover image on it.
