Reaction Post: The Sarah Jane Adventures 1.1 - Revenge of the Slitheen (part 2)

This is the Reaction Post for The Sarah Jane Adventures series 1, episode 1 - Revenge of the Slitheen (part 2). What did you all think of part two? If you wish to see what I thought, in my usual rambling fashion, click past the spoiler barrier.

Oh! And I found this cool pic over on the SciFi Channel Sarah Jane Adventures page.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Clyde is going to be a bit…troublesome? Like, sticking his nose in where he shouldn’t? Even Mr. Smith tells him to watch out. Plus, he’s a bit bloodthirsty. Mind you, he did figure out about the underground railways and the vinegar. Still…he remains on the annoying side, in my opinion. I did like that he gave Sarah Jane good advice about Luke calling her “Mum,” though.

Sarah Jane told the Doctor story in this episode. I wonder if it will be her “bigger on the inside” speech. As in, the thing that she always has to tell new companions. Hmmm… Anyway, Luke may have accidentally given the baddies what they needed, but he set it right in the end. Quite the speech Sarah Jane gave about wanting her son to grow up and live life. It kinda makes you Awwww. I do feel a bit bad about the child Slitheen…but then again, it looked to me like he got teleported out at the last minute. The head baddie/principal was a bit over the top, wasn’t he? Not that I minded. It was funny. They want revenge for the encounter with The Doctor it would seem. Maybe they should have done their research a little better before coming back to Sol 3. I’m just sayin’…

Maria’s dad works in IT? I wonder what her mum does. Yeah, the one who thinks she’s cursed. It’s a darn good thing she’s so oblivious, or she could cause trouble. Obviously Maria gets her brains from her dad. She’s got pretty good nerves, too. She managed to kill a Slitheen with a bottle of vinegar. Also, she doesn’t seem to be easily fazed by trouble. Good on her.

Poor Luke continues to try and deal with all of these new experiences. Oh, well. At least he saved the day again, and he really has a Mum now.

  1. The Vig Says:

Overall I think the episode worked well, but I am a bit burned out on the Slitheen. They show up a lot in this series.

I think you are right, it will be her bigger on the inside speech.

I wish Sarah would have more to do, but I guess that is going to be hard since the CBC is producing this one.

  2. Elisa Says:

Hey…she has to defend her friends and her piece of Earth. And at least she’ll keep some vinegar handy now…

  3. tiff Says:

For some reason I never got ep.1 recorded. What site do you suggest I go to for that?
