Question: Which Is Your Favorite Rose Episode?

I have really enjoyed watching Rose evolve as a character over the last two years, so this week’s question is: Which is your favorite Rose episode? This is a bit different from just choosing your favorite Doctor Who episode of the last two seasons, as what I am really asking for is your favorite episode that showcases Rose. In which one was she the most fantastic? As usual, I offer you a list to help jog your memory.
1. Rose
2. The End of the World
3. The Unquiet Dead
4. Aliens of London (1)
5. World War Three (2)
6. Dalek
7. The Long Game
8. Father’s Day
9. The Empty Child (1)
10. The Doctor Dances (2)
11. Boom Town
12. Bad Wolf (1)
13. The Parting of the Ways (2)
Special: Children In Need
Special: The Christmas Invasion
1. New Earth
2. Tooth and Claw
3. School Reunion
4. The Girl in the Fireplace
5. Rise of the Cybermen (1)
6. The Age of Steel (2)
7. Idiot’s Lantern
8. The Impossible Planet (1)
9. The Satan Pit (2)
10. Love and Monsters
11. Fear Her
12. Army of Ghosts (1)
13. Doomsday (2)
After much thought, I have decided that my favorite Rose episode is The Parting of the Ways. I mean, Rose manages to bring the TARDIS back to The Doctor, destroys the Daleks, and brings Jack back to life. She makes a really cool Time Goddess, in my not so humble opinion. My favorite part is when she first opens the door of the TARDIS upon returning, and just sort of re-forms a few steps away. She is made up of golden light. Coming in a close second and third, respectively, are The Satan Pit and Fear Her. I like both of these Rose episodes for her take charge attitude, and her ability to get things done on her own. These are my choices. What do you think?

the doctor danses was really great, and I love the first episode as well. I like the very beginning when he grabes her hand and says run! love it.

They are all good, but I liked Tooth and Claw and New Earth, because it showed that she would be able to handle a situation when The Doctor was not around.
In Tooth and Claw she looked after everyone and got them to organize. In New Earth she was smart enough to pick up the pipe when Chip called her by name.

It’s really hard to choose, isn’t it? Most episodes have great Rose moments. I loved that bit in Tooth and Claw where she talked to the enemy, then organized everyone to escape. The Doctor Dances is another good choice. I loved Rose trying to get The Doctor to dance with her. Thanks, Susangalique and the_Vig!

I have to go with Father’s Day. What she went through emotionally in that one (as well as myself) and what she learned about travelling in time was pretty huge. And Billie just acted her butt off in it, too.

Father’s Day is my favorite first season episode, so I’ll have to agree with you on that one, Erik. Fabulous ep. Hey! How was your birthday?

Pick one? She’s so great in all of them. I guess I would say Father’s day was one of her best as well, because you can see the character learn and grow. Piper owned that role once that episode aired. No other person could ever play Rose after that.

I could write a whole essay on the specific Rose coolness of each episode…Oh, wait. I already do that in my episode reviews.

I’ll have to call you with birthday tales.

I’m on vacation, Erik. Call or e-mail. I should be around. You know, with all of this talk about Rose, I’m tempted to do a post about the evolution of her character.

Yay, vacation! Good for you! I think doing a post on the evolution of her character is a great idea. I got up to School Reunion last night on the DVD’s (didn’t order them, got them Tuesday at Best Buy, tee hee) and it really is fascinating to see how much she grew. I especially loved how much she was not happy when The Doctor said Mickey could join them. Anyway, continue to enjoy your vacation!
