Question: What Fictional Character Should Meet The Doctor?

Ever since The Doctor mentioned Arthur Dent at the end of The Christmas Invasion, I have been wondering about The Doctor meeting fictional characters. So this week’s question is: What fictional character (from any medium) would you most like The Doctor to encounter? What tiny bit of your fandom would you like to wander into Doctor Who? Would you like to see Emma Peel come to The Doctor’s rescue with a well placed kick? Would you enjoy it if The Doctor became 0010 for an episode and hung out with James Bond? How about The Doctor discussing strategy with Aragorn? What do you think? As per usual I have included some suggestions below, but feel free to ignore Rule #1 and wander away from the list.
A Few Suggestions:
- Nick Knight from Forever Knight (Vampire Cop meets The Last Time Lord)
- Mal Reynolds from Firefly (The Doctor would be handy to have around)
- Silent Bob from Clerks (…’cause The Doctor talks a lot, you see…)
- Amelia Peabody from Crocodile on the Sandbank, etc. (who doesn’t want to see The Doctor in Victorian-age Egypt?)
- John Smith from Dead Zone (hey, they have the same name…)
- Giles from Buffy The Vampire Slayer (That sort of happened…)
- Tia and Tony from Escape to Witch Mountain (it’s my list, I can include whomever I wish…so there)
- MacGyver from MacGyver (They could fix *anything*)
- Albert Campion from The Fear Sign, etc. (mostly because Campion was played on TV by the 5th Doctor)
- Harry Potter (That would be amusing…)
This is a hard one. There are all sorts of folks that would be mighty entertaining to introduce to The Doctor. This time, though, I think I’ll choose Emma Peel. John Steed would not approve, I’m thinking. My second choice would be Amelia Peabody. Especially later on in the series when The Doctor would likely encounter her son, Ramses. Actually, that kind of hurts my brain. Okay then, what about you?

Roj Blake, Vila and Avon
Number 6
I agree with Harry Potter, but perhaps even better, would be Dumbledore, perhaps during the first war against You-Know-Who.

I think that the hat tip to Arthur Dent was an homage to Douglas Adams, and not meant as anything more.
I am strongly opposed to the doctor meeting any ficitonal characters. I am not even keen on when he meets historical figures.

Sorry, Ben. I don’t actually think they’ll ever do anything like that. Just thought that it might be fun to speculate.

Eric J, can you just see the mayhem if The Doctor arrived at Number 6’s village? Good luck getting him with a balloon. Great choices!

There have been some really good suggestions. I really like the number 6 idea.
However, the choice was simple for me this time.
The Doctor has to meet Kwai Chang Caine

Ooohhh! Meeting No. 6 would be awesome! And, I really liked your Emma Peel suggestion. One interesting and action-packed meeting might be had with Jack Bauer!

Sherlock Holmes. It makes my head spin. Course, in Sherlock’s world, he might see The Doctor as Moriarty. :}

So, which Kwai Chang Caine, The Vig? Original or his grandson?
Either way, I think that these 2 wanderers would find each other very interesting.
Sherlock Holmes, Debbie? Well, I’m thinking that he might deduce a bit too much about The Doctor. That in and of itself might be fun.

I was thinking the grandson would fit well into a Doctor Who story. Heck in the final seasons of KFTLC, Caine was nearly a Timelord himself

My apologies to Michael. Your comment got caught in my spam filter, and I clicked the wrong button when I was trying to fish is out. If you comment again, I promise to be more careful.

I don’t know what The Doctor would make of Jack Bauer, lisa-marie. It would be amusing to see, though.

I wouldn’t actually want to see him in the rest of the BSG Universe, but an interaction with Gaius Baltar would be amusing. Especially since I imagine The Doctor would be able to see Head-Six.

Maybe JK Rowling is reading this post, and will call back the first edition from the printers to change the ending of The Deathly Hallows.
In the rewrite, the Doctor interrupts the big showdown between Harry and Voldemort, and uses hi sonic screwdriver on the latter, making Harry’s wand look pants in comparison. They all live happily ever after, and we get to see it in the next series.
What? It could happen! Pah.

I want him to meet Gandalf. I want to know if the universe implodes if they’re in the same room :).

Emma Peel is a great idea as a “guest companion” - though I doubt he’d be able to resist her charms. Holmes would be interesting too, as a friendly competitor - think we know which fictional character would play the Master.
But I think it would be interesting to see the doctor meet another character in their world, rather than his. Ripley comes to mind - or Van Helsing - or Indiana Jones.

Eric J, I’ll bet he could, too. Another great suggestion.
DaveP, I’m sure that stranger things have happened…it’s just that I can’t think of one right now. I wonder what sort of Doctor Who ep J K Rowling would write given the chance…
