Question: What Famous Person Should The Doctor Meet?

During his many travels The Doctor has encountered many celebrities and people of note. He has, at one time or another, encountered Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria, Shakespeare, Mme de Pompadour, H.G. Wells, and even Einstein for a moment (when transporting him home from being captured by the Rani.) So, my question for you this week is: What famous person do you think that The Doctor should meet next? With all of Earth’s history to choose from, I sure that you can come up with some ideas. To get you started, though, I have brought the usual list. Like all good companions, feel free to wander off the list into your own adventures…

Some Famous Folks:

  • Butch Cassidy (and Sundance)
  • Jules Verne
  • Anastasia
  • Nefertiti
  • J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Boudica
  • Winston Churchill
  • Casanova
  • Albert Einstein
  • Amelia Earhart

I was tempted to make the list of suggestions longer than ten this week, as there are so many fun possibilities. I mean, just consider the possibilities if The Doctor encountered William Wallace or the blind poet Homer! My choice for who I think he should meet next is…Casanova. And it would be even more fun if David Tennant could play both parts. *grin* It just happens that I am terribly amused by the thought of The Doctor encountering someone as uninhibited as Casanova, since The Doctor is very self-contained. Anyway, who would you like The Doctor to encounter?

  1. Debbie Says:

King Richard…he meets him during the Crusades and sends him back to thwart Prince John.

  2. The Vig Says:

    How about Nikola Tesla?

The Doctor could be responsible for destroying his death ray :)

  3. lisa-marie Says:

Oh, so many possibilities!! I love the idea of the Doctor meeting Amelia Earhart, though. Perhaps he could accidently find her; find out what really happened to her.

  4. Elisa Says:

Or, maybe he’s the reason she disappeared, lisa-marie. :)

  5. Elisa Says:

Debbie and The Vig, Oooo, King Richard and Tesla. Those would be fun!

Hey, what about Charlemagne or Mary Pickford?

  6. lisa-marie Says:

OMG! You might just be right about that, Elisa! I think I smell a fanfic …

    I don’t know what you’re talking about, lisa-marie…

    Ooo, look! Zeppelins!
    *sneaks away*

  8. Eric J Says:

Having met Dickens and Shakespeare, I’d think Chaucer would be next from the world of Literature.

I’d only want the Doctor to meet Casanova if Captain Jack came along.

As a big Rome fan, I’d love to see him meet some of the people from the end of the Republic - Ceasar, Cicero, Mark Antony.

I doubt he’s well known enough to British audiences, but Ben Franklin would be great.

  9. Elisa Says:

Chaucer! Ohh…didn’t he disappear, too? That would be perfect.

Captain Jack and Casanova? Dear heavens. The mind boggles.

    Great choices, Eric J!

  10. Peter Catlin Says:

I think that the Doctor should meet Mark Twain.

  11. Elisa Says:

    Hi Peter!!!
Great suggestion. Can you just see The Doctor being stuck at the Caleveras Frog Jumping Festival?

  12. Erik Says:

    Good question!

I’d like him to meet Anastasia and whisk her away before the treacherous firing squad, which would explain her missing body in the grave for those who don’t believe she was Anna Anderson. :-) Would make a very good story, why he relates to her more than the rest of the family, why he would risk the time continuum problems of sparing her, where he would take her if she didn’t become a companion. Hmmmm.

    Look! More Zeppelins!
    *sneaks away, too*
