Question: Have You Ever Been To A Doctor Who Convention?

The question this week is more along the lines of a fact-finding mission. Have you ever been to a Doctor Who Convention? I’m curious, because I am set to attend my first one this weekend. I’m finally going to Gallifrey One! (February 16-18, 2007 at the LAX Marriott). If you have been to a Doctor Who Con: Did you have a good time? What was your favorite part? Any stories that you’d like to share? I go to BayCon every year, but I’ve never been to a Fandom-specific Con. So, what do you have to say? (Oh, and just so you know, I’ll post about the Con next week). Thanks!

I have been to TimeCon, back in the day, when they had the 6th Doctor, Scotty and Sulu.
It is very odd to see your favorite actors up close for the first time.
Have a lot of fun.

I was at that one, too! In fact, a bunch of the TimeCons. The one with the 3rd Doc & pretty much all of UNIT and the one with Tom Baker. Miss those cons…
Oh, and Elisa, yes, I’ve been to a few.
Smaller ones like this are nice because you really get a chance for one-on-one interaction with the guests. My dad got stopped in the hallway by Katy Manning two years ago and the two of them were chatting it up, much to the chagrin of the organizers who were trying to get her to a Q&A session. The dealers room is a far cry from what you will find at a Wizard or Comic Con, but will cover all your Doctor Who needs. Plus there is just enough non-Who stuff going on to keep you interested (it’s where I met and befriended Robia LaMorte).
So, all in all, I think you will have an absolutely splendid time.

The Vig - Thanks for the input, and i’ll see about that autograph you asked for.
Erik - I’m thinking that I will likely have a splendid time…and you’d know, ’cause I’ll be there with you. Thanks for the input.
