Question: Favorite Series Four Episode?

by

The question has come at last. Which was your favorite episode of Doctor Who series four? This is the all-around question. I’m not just asking for “best-acted” or “best use of the Doctor.” (I’m sure that something of that sort will come later.) Which one did you enjoy the most? Which one do you find yourself wanting to see yet again? As per usual, I have the episodes listed below for your reference.

This Year in Who…
1. Partners in Crime
2. The Fires of Pompeii
3. Planet of the Ood
4. The Sontaran Stratagem
5. The Poison Sky
6. The Doctor’s Daughter
7. The Unicorn and the Wasp
8. Silence in the Library
9. Forest of the Dead
10. Midnight
11. Turn Left
12. The Stolen Earth
13. Journey’s End

This was the most difficult choice I think I’ve had to make so far with this show. I was pretty much uniformly happy with this series, with only a couple of exceptions. After spending a couple of weeks thinking about this, I’ve finally decided to go with The Fires of Pompeii. It barely edged out The Doctor’s Daughter and Steven Moffat’s two this time around. It was so full of fun and also emotion.

So…what about you?

  1. Gillian Says:

We just saw The Doctor’s Daughter here (and NZ is seeing it this week) so we’re not quite caught up enough for me to make any deep decisions. I’m enjoying the season though.

  2. The Vig Says:

Well, I think Planet of the Ood and the two parter Silence in the Library / Forest of the dead were wonderful but if I have to choose, and it appears I do, I would pick Fires of Pompeii.

The bit about how the translation circuit handles someone actually speaking latain is just so very funny

  3. lisa-marie Says:

Oh, that is such a hard decision, but I think I’ll go with “Silence in the Library”. Of course that was a two-parter, so does it count that the second part, “Forest of the Dead” is a fave, too? Please don’t ask me to explain exactly why it’s a fave, it just is. There was so much happening, so I was never bored, yet I never felt overwhelmed or confused.

  4. Annie Says:

While I really liked the 2 parter about the library, I LOVED Planet of the Ood. That was actually my favorite episode of all 4 seasons so far…

  5. Elana Says:

I enjoyed all of them this season because I thought Catherine Tate was a wonderful companion and had the perfect personality to play against the Dr. The last episode was my favorite up until the end where I sat in disbelief staring at the TV set crying.

  6. Elisa Says:

Gillian, did you like that ep?

It looks like we have a nice spread of opinions across the rest of this series. …And I was right there with you Elana.

  7. eve Says:

Catherine Tate And David Tennant were like the perfect actors to play thier parts. I really am sturggling to pick. every episode was near perfect.

Firstly i’ll put my favourite episodes and then i’ll narrow it down::
The fires of pompeii, the doctors daughter, unicorn and the wasp, silence in the library, forest of the dead, midnight, turn left

This is where the hard bit comes in.
    Top three:
Silence in the library [on its own]
    The fires of pompeii
    midnight
    turn left

    [that four haha]

    errmmmmmm
    This is hard

The fires of pompeii is my favorite
very closely followed by Turn left.
