Question: Favorite Episode of Torchwood Series 1?

So, what are you thinking of Torchwood Series 2 so far? I’m quite enjoying it. So far, I’m liking it better that last series. But this got me to thinking (which led to this week’s question. Quelle suprise!) What was your favorite episode of Torchwood Series one? There’s thirteen episodes to choose from. Which one will you choose? Do you prefer ghosts or aliens with a sex habit? How about fairies? Or, is a Cyberwoman more your thing? Here’s the list…

Make note of these before Jack Retcons you…
1. Everything Changes (Gwen encounters Torchwood.)
2. Day One (The worst first day at work ever, with a side of a sex-addicted alien.)
3. Ghost Machine (Gwen sees ghosts.)
4. Cyberwoman (Did Ianto mention that he had a girlfriend?)
5. Small Worlds (Fairies and someone from Jack’s past.)
6. Countrycide (Torchwood, it’s what’s for dinner.)
7. Greeks Bearing Gifts (Here, wear this!)
8. They Keep Killing Suzie (…But she started it.)
9. Random Shoes (Swallowing alien eyes may have surprising side-effects.)
10. Out Of Time (Some people just can’t adjust to a new life.)
11. Combat (The first rule of Weevil Fight Club is…)
12. Captain Jack Harkness (We are Captain Jack Harkness.)
13. End Of Days (For future reference…don’t open the rift.)

This was a pretty difficult decision for me. I mean, I like elements in most episodes, even ones that I mostly dislike. *cough*Countrycide*cough* My favorite overall episode is going to have to be Greeks Bearing Gifts. I felt that it was well written, and it came with an added bonus of more Jack information. How cool is that?

Right, then. Which episode will you choose?

  1. Elisa Jenkins Says:

Whoa…was this a tough one. I would have to go with Cyberwoman. I really enjoyed the interplay within the team at the beginning (even though Ianto wasn’t a part of it).

I also thought the tensions and stresses that led to the final climatic scene were very well done and showed how strongly bonded the team is despite having to do some pretty ugly things sometime.

  2. The Vig Says:

I think Cyberwoman is the best episode for Ianto but overall I liked the episode Captain Jack Harkness.

Who knew Captain Jack was not Captain Jack

  3. Tiff Says:

Countrycide is the one I remember most vividly. It’s my favorite because it developed Torchwood as a unit, and was not just about Gwen’s love life. It was also when the series definitely turned a corner and became really dark and scary. Jack was pretty hot, too, but Jack is always pretty hot. :)

  4. Elisa Says:

So, Cyberwomen, Captain Jack, Countrycide, and Greeks Bearing Gifts.

    Nice Mix!
