Question: Favorite Doctor Who Tie-In Product?
![]()
Hello all. This week I have been pondering shopping (perhaps my weekend spent shopping has something to do with this, but I can’t be sure.) As you know, there are all kinds of Doctor Who-related products on the market today. Everything from party supplies to costumes is available if you know where to look. So, this week’s question is: What is your favorite Doctor Who tie-in product? Do you have the soundtrack on eternal repeat? Is your mobile phone tastefully adorned with a K-9 charm? Is that a Clockwork Robot action figure defending your desk at work? I’m not going to require that you actually own this item, but that’s generally a pretty good way to tell what your favorite product actually is. I have created a list of tie-ins for you to ponder, but feel free to wander off like good little companions.
A few products for you to ponder:
- The Plush Dalek (Can’t you just imagine it at a Dolly Tea Party?)
- Fiction Books (Like The Stone Rose.)
- 10th Doctor Pajamas
- TARDIS socks
- The TARDIS playset
- Non-Fiction Books (Like The Key to Time by Peter Haining.)
- Doctor Who Magazine
- Sonic Screwdriver Torch
- The TARDIS key
- DVDs (Which are the ultimate tie-ins, I suppose.)
Well, my favorite product that I don’t yet own is The 9th Doctor’s coat. If I ever win the lottery, I am *so* there. My favorite product that I actually own is the Sonic Screwdriver torch. This may have something to do with my flashlight fixation, but it’s cool either way you look at it. Now, if only I had a real sonic screwdriver. …or maybe a TARDIS. What about you?
Doctor Who, tie-in product, soundtrack, K-9, Clockwork Robot, Plush Dalek, The Stone Rose, TARDIS socks, TARDIS playset, The Key to Time, Doctor Who Magazine, Sonic Screwdriver Torch, TARDIS key

You beat me to it Elisa! I was just going to ask if anyone had come up with an actual TARDIS. Can you imagine the comments you would get if you had a lifesize one sitting in your garden! LOL!!!

My husband went a little crazy with the on-line shopping a while back, and bought me:
-The 10th Doctor/K9 set (Tiny David Tennant! Tiny remote-controlled K9! What’s not to love?)
-The Sonic Screwdriver pen
-The Dalek alarm clock (I used it as an alarm clock for about a week. That bad boy is LOUD. Now it sits menacingly on my desk.)
I love my sonic screwdriver, and I really wish it was real. But I think the Tiny Tennant is my favourite!

I nearly owned a life-size Dalek once. One day I must tell you the whole story.
The item I covet most now is the small remote controlled dalek - the superduper version with sound effects and stuff. I got to play with one once and joyously exterminated ants until the remote was forcibly removed from my clutch.

Oh, how I want a remote-controlled Dalek. Or the larger RC K9. And maybe a Martha Jones action figure to go with my Doctor one.
This could get expensive. I think i may need a second job!
My husband really wants the TARDIS USB port. He says we need a USB port anyway, but I think it’s just an excuse.

I have a remote control Dalek, which I love. My favorite however, has to be a 4th Doctor scarf knitted by my then-girlfriend about 20 years ago.
Although I think I may no longer have it.

I have a 7th Doctor umbrella that my wife found for me.

The toy TARDIS with the flashing light on top from several years ago.

I’m going to have to be boring and say the DVDs. I’m just not enough of a whoovian to want much else. Although, a big stuffed dalek sounds kinda fun, and I’d love to find a thumbdrive shaped like the tardis (or a pencil sharpener).

DVDs, hands-down….
They are so incredibly well done and I tend to learn at least one new tid-bit I wasn’t aware of per disc.

Wow! look at this list!
MKE, if nothing else, i plan to one day have a TARDIS in my garden. It could be a garden shed…
Heather C, I have a Tiny Tennant and a Tiny Rose, but I would love a remote controlled K-9!
We’re planning on getting the TARDIS USB hub for my husband at some point.
Gillian, See? That makes it practical as well as cool. It sounds like a great way to exterminate ants.

Eric J, Oooo…Doctor Who scarf. So far I’ve knitted myself a really long pink one, but I really need to get my act together an get the yarn for a proper Doctor Who one.
The Vig, That’s right! I like that umbrella.
Debbie, was that the one that used to be on top of Scott’s Desk?
Michael and Catslyn, I agree with you about the DVDs. There’s always something really cool to learn about.

I think the little RC K9 only comes with the Tenth Doctor action figure (mine has the overcoat, although all the pictures I’ve seen of the set are with a coat-free Doctor). But there’s no rule saying you can’t have two! I love that the Doctor comes with a tiny little sonic screwdriver! The details on those figures is amazing.

Non-bought is my 4th Doctor scarf my mother knitted for me. I will have that until I die…may even be buried in it (please remember that, Elisa, since I plan on you outliving me). Bought, either a very nice TARDIS key that I used to wear as a necklace and a small TARDIS my father and I made together many, many years ago and still sits atop my bed side stand.
My old housemate Scott also wants to biuld a full size TARDIS for his garden shed! I got him a blueprint years ago, but with the speed of his projects usually…could take a few decades to be made.

Yup the one on top of Scott’s desk that I personally repaired. :}

Heather, I want all the action figures. All, do you hear? *laughs maniacally* Um..sorry. Got carried away there.
Erik, duly noted. Did I ever mention to you that I have a bet on with a friend that I will outlive him? I can totally see Scott with a TARDIS garden shed. It the obvious next project for him, since the library is done.
Ooo, Debbie. You need cards that say “TARDIS Repair Technician.”
