I Got Toys!

I gave in and ordered some things from forbiddenplanet.co.uk a couple of weeks ago, and the first box arrived Thursday. I had been looking for a Rose action figure for a while, and I wasn’t willing to wait until Gallifrey One in February to see if I could get one there. I ended up going with the season 2 Rose that comes with shorter hair and the shirt from the episode “New Earth.” She also comes with her own K-9 that has “Pull Back & Go” motion. (My cats are going to think that I got K-9 for them. Sigh.) As you can see in the picture, the likeness isn’t too bad for either character. K-9’s side panel even comes off to reveal his inner workings like in the episode “School Reunion.” This K-9 appears to be the newer version, though. No rust on the action figure’s paint job. Now, all I need are a sonic screwdriver and a radio-controlled dalek. I’ve always wanted my own dalek. Yes, I know. After Christmas. I’m not allowed to buy anything else for myself until after Christmas. (Who knows, maybe I’ll get more toys for Christmas. But where to put them?)

I got the new K9 remote controlled dog for Christmas. Ok, so I’m 21, but I still played with it.
Again, the panel opens up (which is where to find the on/off button), his ears rotate, he does the laser-nose thing etc etc.
Issues I had:
Steering is… erratic at best. Takes a while to master. If the original K9 was anything like as *interesting*, I can completely understand why Tom Baker actually KICKED the thing.
Laser-nose stops it walking around. Basically, you employ the button that sticks it out - and it won’t go anywhere until you put it back. Which is really annoying if you’ve got your little brother convinced that you can “fry his skull” with it, and he’s running in CIRCLES. Dammit, I just can’t keep UP.

What does it say about me that I want one anyway? Maybe you should have a Dalek for back-up brother tormenting.

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of that. If you’re local, you can borrow mine…

Sadly, I am not local. *cries*
Hmmmm…maybe I should get a Dalek to defend my desk at work…
