For a Magpie Mind…

Have I told you folks about Torchwood Babiez? It’s like a combination of Muppet Babies and the Whoniverse in comic format. You can find it over at tw_babiez on Livejournal. The reason I mention it now in particular is that part 3 (of 4) has just been posted. I’m loving it, and I hope that part four isn’t that many months away.

Speaking of comics, it looks like Sheldon is a Doctor Who fan, or perhaps it’s artist Dave Kellett who’s the fan. Either way, this is the second time I’ve seen the show mentioned in his comic strip.

The Children in Need TV event is on tonight, 14 November 2008, at 7pm. And what can we expect to see with relation to the Whoniverse? Well, apparently we will be treated to a clip from the Doctor Who Christmas special. In addition, there are rumours floating around that the next Doctor will be named during the show. I wonder if they’re actually talking about the name of the Christmas special, which is “The Next Doctor.” Who knows? I guess we’ll find out tonight.

Doctor Who series four is currently playing on BBCAmerica if you want to catch it again. It’s playing on Saturdays at 9(8c).

How did you first encounter Doctor Who? One of the things I haven’t done on this blog for a while is My First Doctor. Who was your first Doctor? Where did you see your first episode? Tell me your story and I’ll post it here. (You can see the previous ones here.) You can either comment with your story, or send me an e-mail using the Contact Me link near the top right of the blog.

Contest Announcement

Friday, October 31st, 2008

First things first. November marks the two year anniversary of Watching Doctor Who. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the folks who read my blog and all of the people who bring us those Tales of the Whoniverse.

How am I planning to celebrate? By having a contest, of course!

Rules:
You can enter the contest simply by commenting on any post that appears on this blog during the month of November. Commenting on older posts will not count. You may comment as many times as you like, but these comments should be in some way related to the posts you comment on. Each comment is an entry. On December first I will announce the winner, and e-mail them to tell them they’ve won. So, please include your e-mail address with your comment.

What will you win? A couple of classic Doctor Who magazines and a wee surprise.

Sound good? Then get commenting starting November 1, 2008.

After a week and a half of downtime, after a bit of up and down, Watchingdrwho.com is finally back online. Apparently the hard drive died over at HQ. I know that they were ordering a bunch of new equipment, so here’s hoping that it’s smooth sailing from here on out. In the event of future downtime (God forbid. Knock wood.) you can keep track of my complaining about it on my Twitter account. Thanks for sticking with me through all of this.

I’m celebrating our return by showing you the picture of the Secret Diary of a Call Girl that Erik saw on the Sunset Strip down in Los Angeles. Like the nice guy he is, he snapped a picture and sent it to me. Thanks, Erik!! (Apparently the pictures of Billie have been on buses, too.)

Also, have you heard that Doctor Who is finally showing series three in Australia? They’ve finally seen the last Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned. Yay!

Well, I’m off to try and catch up on my posting. Stand by for a Postalanche.
