Britney Spears on Doctor Who?!?

From the Dear God No department, I bring you the news that Digital Spy is reporting that Russell T. Davies has expressed interest in having Britney Spears make an appearance on Doctor Who at some point in the future. The word is that he would like her to play a group of alien clones of herself. Worried that Ms. Spears may not be able to film in Cardiff, he is also pondering the logistics of doing a Hollywood special. Will someone please tell me that this is just another unfounded rumor?!? Is it just that Mr. Davies has been working a bit too hard and might need a bit of a vacation? Mind you, if he’d said that he wanted her for Torchwood, I would have said something like: Okay. I can see that. But, not Doctor Who. I’m just going to have to hope that Julie Gardner, executive producer of all things Doctor Who-related and BBC Wales Head of Drama, can talk him down.

[...] Okay, first it was the rumor that Russell T. Davies wanted to have Britney Spears on Doctor Who. Comments have not been favorable here at Watching Doctor Who. In fact, responses have been more along the line of: Dear God No! Now, SyFy Portal is reporting a new casting rumor. In an effort to add some more “Hollywood glitz” they are trying to get Jessica Simpson to do a cameo. Yes. Jessica Simpson. I’ve decided that I am just going to have to ignore this rumor. Otherwise, I might just go a bit mental. I mean, don’t they have enough screwed up celebrities in the UK? (okay…*end rant*) [...]
